SS09 Day 2
I’m a bit behind real time, but bear with me. I had to give up blogging because having fun and knitting was more important.
So, day 2 was Friday. We didn’t have class on Friday, just the world record attempt. But first I noticed that my nails were the exact color of my sister’s baby blanket (which ironically got no knitting all weekend):

Then I threw on a layer of glitter, and ran into yarn in the marketplace that totally matched it:

Sorry, enough about nail color.
We got up early to get tickets to the world record attempt, but that ended up being completely unecessary – they were still available when we were shopping in the morning. They never did run out. We shopped in the morning, where we pretty much finished. And then went over budget. I actually want to compliment Lotus Yarns. I was totally done shopping, but was sucked into the samples of their yarn:

I thought this was one of the better designed booths – they had yarn knit up in a pretty and popular pattern, Ishbel (that took just one skein of their yarn), and everything was very well arranged and pleasing to the eye. I was kind of sad at some of the other indie booths, and how they weren’t capitalizing their sales due to their displays.
Anyway, we finished shopping and went to go break a world record. We saw Barbara Walker – THE Barbara Walker, and I turned into knitter paparazzi:

We readied our needles:

Saw gorgeous knits:

And a huge freaking amount of people:

15 minutes later, I had a swatch, and pain in my wrists that reminded me why I never knit with straights (4 is not 2!! 2 is not 1!)

Then we went off to downtown Portland to enjoy the town. Started off at Deschutes:

Then we went to a yarn store, a fabric store, and a button store, the names of which escape me. I’ll know when I look at my receipts. :p Then we went to Rogue Ales.
First I forgot to take a picture of my beer sampler until it was almost too late:

(That’s the start of Sam, by Cookie A, of course). I actually wasn’t too thrilled, and ordered a pint of Dead Guy, which I’ve had in the bottle before in Boston. Then the waitress brought me a sample of Double Dead Guy, and I fell. HARD.

LOVE this beer. LOVE. I brought home a 22 ounce bottle in my checked baggage, and lucked out and got another 22 ounce inside the security gate at PDX. There might have been some buzzed twittering on my protected feed (thank goodness it wasn’t the public or they might have refused to let me back into Boston) where I denounced Sam Adams beer and declared Portland the beer capitol of the US (Germany still holds the best in world title for me). Have I mentioned I love this beer?
So that’s day 2… two more to go!

Yah – see…. I’m tired already and it’s just day 2 recap.
I love, love, love turtle girl’s shawl. LOVE IT.
omg – this looks like so much fun!
